Coding System
Easipeel can be specified using a simple coding system consisting of three parts.
- The first two alphabets is the material code.
- The third digit is the lamination thickness code.
- The last letter is the bond strength.
| Material | Code |
|---|---|
| Aluminium | AM |
| Brass | BR |
| Steel | ST |
| Stainless Steel | SS |
| Thickness | Code |
|---|---|
| 0.001" | 1 |
| 0.002" | 2 |
| 0.003" | 3 |
| 0.004" | 4 |
| Bond Strength | Code |
|---|---|
| Light | L |
| Normal | N |
| Tight | T |
Example:
AM2N - Aluminium, 0.002" thick, Normal Bond
If a hybrid sheet is required, simply add an 'H' to the code and advise the exact configuration whilst enquiring or a RFQ.

Manufacturing from Easipeel
Ford offer a highly competitive and experienced component manufacturing service from Easipeel material. However, customers wishing to manufacture themselves should follow these guidelines closely.
Handling:
To prevent damage and maximise the benefits Easipeel must always be handled with care, avoiding sharp contact with all edges - particularly corners.
Guillotining:
- The recommended maximum blade clearance for easipeel is 0.025mm (0.001").
- Protective paper should be laid on the feeding surface of the guillotine to prevent surface damage to the material.
Bandsawing:
Use a band saw approximately 4.76mm (3/16") wide with approximately 30 teeth per 25.4mm (1"), the approximate cutting speed being 9.15m (30ft)/minute. The slot in the table must be as narrow as possible to avoid the lowest Easipeel foil being dragged down. We would stress that a band saw finish tends not to be of high quality and as such should only be considered as an alternative method to guillotining.
Machining & Milling:
- Easipeel must be tightly clamped to the finished edge of the diameter or shape required otherwise the foils will delaminate at the edge and cause burring.
- The use of coolant is essential to prevent de-lamination of Easipeel due to extreme heat.
Pressing:
- Die clearance for Easipeel should be 10% of the individual foil thickness, otherwise edge drag may occur.
- Flange width must not be less than three times the Easipeel sheet thickness.
- Hole diameters must exceed three times the Easipeel sheet thickness.
- Use of ejector clamping is essential to avoid Easipeel delaminating on extraction.
Drilling:
- Maximum recommended hole size to be drilled from Easipeel is 12.7mm (1/2") diameter.
- Easipeel must be tightly clamped around the area to be drilled to prevent foil edge drag.
Heat Resistance:
Resistance to heat is determined by the adhesive in use. As per our previous tests, it can withstand up to 170°C (338°F). Above the temperature deterioration of the adhesive may occur. However, since the finished Easipeel shim, when fitted, assumes the physical characteristics of the material type used, the reduction in bond strength is only apparent on removal of the shim.
